The original PRO contains 5.1% rosavins, which makes the Rhodiola rosea in World Championship PRO 3 times as strong. We have also added L-Arginine-Alpha-Ketoglutarate to the DBM Amino Fusion component to help improve endurance and increase workout capacity. DBM Endurance World Championship PRO is also formulated 1200mg of Cordyceps sinensis, containing 8% cordycepic acid and the amino acid endurance combination of Citrulline Malate 2:1, L-Leucine, L-Valine and L-Isoleucine and L-Arginine-Alpha-Ketoglutarate. EVERY LITTLE DETAIL

Not sure about anyone else but racing season is in full swing here in the south and any major gains in power have come to a standstill. However there is still a whole lot of racing to get done and from week to week there is just enough time to recover get in one hard workout and go again.

This is the time of the year where gains will come from paying attention to every little detail that goes into your racing and or cycling and tweak them to eek out any gains you can.

For me I always start with my diet am I eating right or have I gotten stuck in a rut eating the same thing from day to day? Are there any areas I can improve what I take in order to improve performance? How is my day to day hydration?

Hydration is one of the easiest areas to find some measure of improvement. With the temps rising our training extracts more fluid from our bodies in the form of sweat. Since we are racing and training at or near a peak we are beating our selves up every single week and then some our fluid stores become depleted. You must force hydration each and every day this is a simple way to speed recovery and make sure that your system is running at top notch!

The best way to do this is to look at what you weight before a ride and then right after if you have kept up on your hydration then the weight should be the same, however most of the time the weight is lower and this is pure fluid loss. To replace lost fluids I am a plain water guy, most upper level guys are but I do not think there is anything wrong with drinking a flavored water. In the end the idea is to just get the fluids in. Through out the day I also drink about 60 oz of water on top of what I use in training a lot of times I add some lemon to the water to break up the flavor.

Weight yea your body weight for every 3 lbs you loose off that frame of yours you would gain about 9 seconds on a 40K TT. If you still have a little to loose then I would suggest a slightly limiting diet but really at this time of the year the training should be melting the pounds away.

Your Gear, Honestly here the sky is the limit if you have 10K to spend you can get a custom fit bike that weights in at 13.5 lbs no problem the reality of it is that most of us have to dig into our own pockets and pawn the wife’s jewelry to get good gear. The biggest expense should be the wheels that is where you are going to get the biggest bang for the buck then I would move to the drive train getting the best components I can afford. Anything that rotates needs to be as light as possible and smooth. If you are on a tight budget here a nice new chain and bottom bracket will totally replace that new bike feel. For the frame just make sure it fits right and can hold up to your power and weight nothing worst that having a killer frame that constantly flexes when you put the hammer down.

Even with running shoes you can get these super light ones that are good for a race I would never train in them but for a race no big deal. However like I said in the beginning the sky is the limit or should I say your bank account!

Aero Gear This too can go to the far reaches of the universe, cost wise anyways. Here simple things can help have some one look at your position. Get a good helmet and practice keeping your head up in the aero position, aero bars are a biggie and make a world of difference. Look at the kit you are wearing and make sure it is smooth and watch that # you don’t want to have it hanging out thee in the wind acting like a parachute

Tactics This takes time and study but some very simple rules can be used and are universal. If you are cycle racing and are alone then you need to sit in and watch for the break or ride it out to the sprint. Just ride the race about mid pack and watch it isn’t easy but if you are alone NO ONE is going to help you out. Watch for a good break to go in the last 10 miles on a RR or the last few laps of a Crit then stick a wheel and hold on for dear life.

In multi sport the big time eaters are transition and the bike so both of these skills need to be honed to a “T”

Warm UP! I always was a little leery of warming up too much but have learned through a lot of trial and error that a good hard warm up is not only necessary but it is paramount to success. The shorter the event the harder the warm up needs to be. For instance for a 20 K TT I would use a 20 min warm up with 3 sets of tempo building up to LTH output for 2 min each then light spinning right up to the start. For longer events I use the same time but drop down to 1 Min sets

Well there you have it some simple yet effective ways to start shaving those seconds off your times this year!

I want to give everyone here some motivation today! What I want to talk about is the one thing none of us can ever get away from and that is aging. There are two ways I have always given credence to for the ageing cycle and that is to either do it with grace or buck the tide and do it my way. As the self righteous athlete I have always been you go and figure out which avenue I took!

Like the ole Elvis song I did it my way and I am so glad I never listened to the critics and naysayer in my early years! Like most people that are involved in sports in the

USA
we have a healthily living mystique attached to athletics. This combination not only makes sense, if the body and mind are in top form so goes the game!

I do want to make a distance line here so no one gets confused, and this may make a few people blink more than once however, there is nothing healthy about professional sports, there just isn’t and those of us that practice it know that (man I am going to be called on that one)

None the less the person who is involved in athletics at the sub professional level can reap huge health rewards by just staying in and working towards top form. We are given one body and even with a few rebuilds we still only get one so it is best to keep that in mind. For me athletics has always been a balanced mix of very hard training coupled with excellent nutrition and life style. The rewards I have reaped have been equal to the seeds I have sown.

I can look back all the way to Jr High and those of us that were serious athletes were kinda treated bad sure there were the cheerleaders and frat parties but we took a load of grief for taking our vitamins eating right sleeping right and living a good life. Yea you know we are all human and we stray a little but in the end this way of living becomes a life style and as I prepare to enter that ½ century mark of my life I am so grateful for those early decisions, and those that helped me make them.

All those extra miles on the road in the cold, riding a steel bike (God forbid) that extra set of benches and those 20 rep squats they helped. When I was 18 I just started to eat a low fat diet and have just adopted that as a life style and I think that is why when my blood #s are compared to the average person ½ my age I come out on top.

But it is more than that really it is a quality of life issue it really is as I age I watch as friends and family give in to disease and health issues directly linked to their life style choices, I wonder, no I really don’t it was there choice but I can tell you that being healthy is the biggest thing you can ever have! I Just started my second family yes sir I now boast 4 biological children and 4 grand sons and now one beautiful adopted daughter. My plan is to give King Solomon a run for his money! The quality of life I have is without question equal to the hard work, dedication and healthy living model I took up long years ago. SO when the going gets tough remember only the tough get going the others fall by the wayside

Those of you that are involved in athletics you started for a reason and everyone is different but the end result can be the same and the saying I have “Age is not a Factor” can be your mantra too!

I didn’t want to blow my own horn or ramble on here but I wanted to add the dimension of the long term into the equation so that people can see beyond the next race or this season ect ect it is a life style one that gives back in ways that only can be had with good living and hard work and exercise.
