This unique formulation will allow you to rapidly increase oxygen intake and reduce lactic acid. This is a must for any serious triathlete, cyclist, runner or swimmer.

IRONMAN MALAYSIA 2009!!

Coming to Ironman Malaysia 2009 was a decision that me and my partner (Erin O’Hara) was made in early decision in December. I thought it would be a great place for her to do her first Ironman and have a holiday together. My training preparation had been geared towards gaining my third title at Ironman Malaysia, as my previous attempts had not eventuated.

We arrived here with no dramas other than that they had missed to put us on the pro start list so had no race numbers. We were left with the last pro race numbers, myself number 46 and Erin 47 side by side in her first ironman.

Race morning came around quickly as usual, but I was looking forward to the race to see how my early season preparation had been. The cannon sounded at 7.30am as it was just getting light. I took out the first 400m hard to get to the front. A group of five containing myself, Luke McKenzie, Reinaldo Collucci, Mathieu O’Halloran and Hiroyuki Nishiuch, quickly moved away from the rest of the field. I was doing most of the work on the front and trying to keep the swim pace fast. I lead out of the water and onto the bike.

I started out hard on the bike to try to gain a lead but after 15km I could see that it was just myself, Luke, and Reinaldo. Luke and I were sharing a lot of the work at the front setting the pace. We both knew that we needed to get a break on Reinaldo as you never know what sort of legs a Olympic athlete would have for the run. At 140km Luke and I managed to open a gap on Reinaldo who later on pulled out of the race in the run.

Leading off the bike onto the run I felt good and was confident in my running ability. My plan with my coach was to sit back and run the last 21km harder as this is where I struggled in Kona. At around 2 laps I had Luke down to 24 seconds ahead but then I went through a bad patch. This allowed Luke to enlarge his lead to a minute, giving him more confidence and he looked great. I conciliated my 2nd place as I knew it was his day. I happy with my second place finish as we dueled all day long and it is early season so I hope to get faster and stronger as the year goes along.

The highlight of my day was being at the finish to see Erin finish her first Ironman in 10th place pro female even after suffering a nasty crash early in the bike at an aid station.

Thanks to all my sponsors and supporters. Look forward to reporting on more successful races throughout this season.

I arrived in Pentiction, B.C Canada on Wednesday the 20th of August and it felt like I had come home. It has been 5 years since I had raced Ironman Canada and I was looking forward to it.

The media focused on the Canadians and few others that had won Ironman races so I was pretty relaxed going into the race with number 9.

Race day came quick and I was up at 4am for breakfast that is always hard to eat that early in the morning with a couple of strong cups of coffee I was feeling ready. Heading down to transition and marking I got through with great ease and had my bike set up very early with lots of time to get ready for the 6.45am start.

The Pro’s were let into the water at 6.30am and I got out doing a good warm up as the water had been pretty cold leading up to the race. My stroke felt great so was looking forward to a great day, the cannon went off and we were away. There were 3 other really great swimmers in the field they were Jan Sibberson , Mark Van Akkren and Matt Clarke I had a bad start and after 600mts they got a break on me and I was left to swim the last 3200mts on my own at the turn I was 50mts behind but on the way back the sun gear on the water was hard to sight into and ended up going off course a bit and losing 2mins 30seconds to the lead 3 guys.

My transition to the bike was fast and I jumped onto the Cervelo and felt great and could push the pace straight away. I had chosen to use the Hed 3 spoke carbon wheels as it will be a set up I may run in Hawaii . I caught Jan and Matt at 30k on the bike and dropped them straight away so thought I would catch Mark in the next few miles but got a split that I was 2mins back and the gap never got any smaller I felt strong but gave up chasing him at 150k and he put another 2 ½ minutes into me.

I still felt very strong but was preparing myself for the Marathon and wanted to save my energy as the wind was really pick up and I knew Mark was a 3.30 marathoner!

Coming back along Main Street the crowd was huge and I kept taking in gels and water shaking out the legs after a tough ride. I headed to transition 4m.15sec down and changed put on compression socks to race in for the 1st time, they slowed my usually slick transition time down but hoped they will keep my calf’s from any injury problems again.
I was eating into Marks lead very quickly but the threat was going to come from behind me in the runners of Jasper Blake and Jason Shortis so need time splits on them.

I caught Mark and mile 5 and was feeling good but the wind was really blowing hard into our face so was working hard I knew if I got to the turn around with a 3-4mins then I would be blown back home.

Jasper was on the charge and eating away at my lead every mile and really didn’t think I could win but I was going to keep fighting as I felt strong then as mile 16 the motor bike came up to me and said you just gain 30seconds back off Jasper and it lifted me.

Seeing Peter Reid commentating he was yelling at me also gave me a huge boost and I gave him the thumbs up!
I ticked off the miles and new once I hit town the crowd would bring me to the finish line as it was packed with supporters and you know where you have to go! The motor bike came up the last time with 3k to go and said that I had 4.30 on Austrian, Bernhard Hiebl. I knew then the race was mine and started to celebrate the moment.

Heading along lakeshore drive in first for the last out and back was awesome I had dreamt about this moment for a long time and getting to the finish carpet I walked it in and high 5 everyone the clock ticked over 8.30 for my finish time of 8.30.11.

2008 Ironman Canada Champion!!

Thank you for all your support over the tough last year I’m hoping that my result in Hawaii will be as memorable.
Kind Regards

What a great win for New Zealander Bryan Rhodes in winning the 2008 Ironman Canada. Bryan started taking Kona Endurance PRO a couple months ago and immediately noticed his running picked up. That was evident with his run being the 4th fastest of the day, 2:55:44. He finished in 8:30:12, more than 4 minutes ahead of second place. It’s a simple formula, take Kona Endurance PRO and go faster, period! Bryan will tell you it works better than anything else available in this world. Great job Bryan!

We are very pleased to begin working with USA pro triathlete, Gina Kehr. Gina and her husband began testing the products, Kona Endurance PRO and CitraBeta Shot last month and absolutely love them. Gina took 4th place at the 2006 Hawaii Ironman. Personally, I know Gina can win Hawaii this October and we are going to do everything we can do to help her achieve that goal.

Gina continues our streak of: EVERY pro athlete that has EVER tested PRO or CITRABETA loves the products and continues to use them. Our products deliver real results, whether you are a top pro or an age-grouper, you will increase oxygen intake and reduce lactic acid buildup.

We are very pleased to start working with Bryan Rhodes, who is just an unbelievably fast triathlete. Brian has been taking Kona Endurance PRO for a couple of weeks now and has noticed his recovery speed up dramatically. “The Kona Endurance pro tablets were here in Boulder, CO when I arrived last week and have been using them everyday and feel really good and strong! I haven’t been wiped out like you usually feel in the first few weeks and altitude,”says Rhodes.

Rhodsey has been competing since 1990 in triathlons and he has seen it all. We are honored that Bryan knows Kona Endurance is the most potent endurance supplement around and look forward to Kona Endurance PRO helping Bryan nail down a few more Ironman wins!

My goal this year is to qualify for the Ironman Triathlon Championship in Kona, Hawaii and then race the race I believe I can on the day in Hawaii. Of course, this will entail A LOT of work. This year I decided to take the extra steps necessary to step my racing up to a higher level. This included attending a two week training camp in New Zealand, working on my swim technique, and focus on training with KONA Endurance to facilitate sufficient recovery.

Two weeks ago at Ironman Arizona I qualified for the Championship in Kona. I had a rough day in the wind and 95 degree heat. The race was not the one that I had hoped for but I hung in there regardless and was able to finish high enough to qualify. The good thing is that the pressure to qualify is off and this makes the following races much more enjoyable.

I hope everyone’s season is off to a good start.

Best Regards,
John Drury
